About the project
This project was an assignment given to me through school. The client is a mental health institution providing care and safety through their app for a smartwatch and phone.
I was asked to make a prototype of this app especially made for a user who needed help with stressful situations and how to understand and cope with them. The prototype needed to work for both the watch and a phone. The client gave complete free rein of the visuals, and required that I did my own research into what would be necessary to include in the app.
User research
The client for this project was not as available as one might prefer because of her illness. Because of this, I had to come up with other ways to learn more about stress, stress-relief and ways to understand more about your own stress. I also had to research more about the client’s specific illness to know what kind of features that needed to be implemented to suit her needs.
I used a questionnaire as one of my research methods for this project. The questionnaire was answered by people who were- or had struggled with stress before. It asked what the people wanted out of an stress-relief app, what features they were looking for and what they felt were missing from other, similar apps.
I also used some relevant information taken from an interview with the client, done by some of my classmates. This information was valuable, as it gives me a better insight into the clients illness and what they needed the app to do. I also got some information about necessary features that the app needed be able to do.
